Secure Private Funds and Grants to Build the Treeline Trail
I am committed to building the Treeline, responsibly.
The Treeline is a planned 2.75 mile urban trail through the heart of Ann Arbor to connect people and places across our community -- to connect the Huron River, Waterhill, Kerrytown, West Park, the Downtown, the Old West Side, and the University of Michigan Athletic Campus. Once completed it will be a signature community amenity that will bind us together and improve our quality of life. It will be amazing and will make Ann Arbor proud.
This project is ambitious and will be phased in over time, but it will be costly. The City will not foot the bill alone -- far from it. We will contribute land, right of way, staff time, and limited funding, but the vast majority of cash will come from external sources -- donations, grants, and sponsorships. We cannot shortchange our other needs, but the Treeline will be a transformative project that must move forward. I’m so excited to get started.
